Not open to new borrowers
HSBC is not accepting new home loan applications. Use the open-lender comparison table if you are looking for a new loan.
HSBC Bank Australia announced on 31 July 2026 that it is closing its retail banking business in Australia and no longer accepts new home loan applications. It has agreed to sell its Australian home and personal loan portfolio to funds managed by Blackstone, with completion expected in the first half of 2027 and Pepper Money then set to manage and service those loans.
For existing HSBC home loan customers, HSBC states today's interest rate, fees, discounts and repayments carry over unchanged until a customer receives written notice of the move to the new servicer. HSBC's remaining Australian branches and retail services are being wound down in a phased approach over the 18 months following the announcement.
Who suits a HSBC home loan?
HSBC's home loan is no longer open to new borrowers, so it is not an option to shortlist from this page. Existing HSBC home loan customers do not need to act before receiving written notice, and can still compare today's rate against the live table above while the move to the new servicer proceeds.
The lowest variable rate still listed for existing HSBC customers is 5.94% p.a., 30 basis points below the 6.24% p.a. median across the lenders Ratesniffers tracks, computed daily from the same live feed as the table above. Since HSBC is not open to new applications, this is worth checking against the wider market before deciding whether to stay on the archived rate or refinance elsewhere.
