Who is ANZ?
ANZ traces its history to the Bank of Australasia, which opened its first Australian branch in Sydney in 1835, and took its current form in October 1970 when the Australia and New Zealand Bank merged with the English, Scottish and Australian Bank, then the largest bank merger in Australian history. Headquartered in Melbourne, it is one of the big four alongside Commonwealth Bank, Westpac and NAB, with a banking footprint that also extends across New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific.
In July 2024 ANZ completed its acquisition of Suncorp Bank, bringing Suncorp Bank's Queensland-heavy customer base and branch network into the ANZ group while running the two brands in parallel. As a condition of the sale, the Federal Treasurer required no net job losses and no regional branch closures across either brand for three years from approval, commitments ANZ has reaffirmed through 2026 with actions such as fast-tracking a regional Queensland branch reopening.
Who suits a ANZ home loan?
ANZ tends to suit borrowers who want big-four scale and an international banking footprint, borrowers who want a no-ongoing-fee variable loan in Simplicity PLUS, and anyone chasing a long fixed term, since ANZ quotes fixed periods out to ten years where most lenders stop at five. Since 2024 the group also includes Suncorp Bank. Its headline rates don't always lead the market though, so compare its comparison rate against the sharpest in the table above before assuming size means a sharper price.
Since 2024 the ANZ group also includes Suncorp Bank.

ANZ home loan products explained
The line-up as published by ANZ, checked 5 September 2026. Today's rate for each product is in the table above.
| Product | Who it is for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| ANZ Simplicity PLUS | Owner-occupiers and investors who want a basic variable loan with no ANZ set-up or ongoing fees. | Variable rate with redraw and unlimited extra repayments at no fee. No offset account is bundled with the product, and ANZ's offset facility is the separate ANZ One offset account, which carries a $10 monthly account servicing fee. Minimum new loan amount $50,000. |
| ANZ Standard Variable | Borrowers who want the fuller-featured variable loan with an offset account. | Variable rate supporting redraw and an ANZ One offset account at $10 a month. ANZ charges no package fee and no set-up or ongoing fee on a new or refinanced home loan. |
| ANZ Fixed Rate | Borrowers who want repayment certainty, including over unusually long terms. | Fixed terms of one, two, three, four, five, seven and ten years, with interest-only available up to five years on owner-occupied lending and up to ten years on investment lending. Each year of the current fixed period has an early or additional repayment tolerance of the lesser of 5% of the loan amount at the start of that fixed period or $5,000; early repayment costs may apply beyond this tolerance, and early exit requires an ANZ quote. An ANZ One offset account can be attached only on the one-year fixed term. |
| Bridging, construction and supplementary loans | Borrowers buying before selling, building, or topping up existing ANZ lending. | Listed on ANZ's own home loan range alongside the main variable and fixed products, each on its own terms and conditions. |
