Which banks have passed on the October 2026 rate rise?

The Reserve Bank of Australia lifted the cash rate by 0.25 percentage points to 4.60% on 29 September 2026. On 30 September, each of the big four banks announced a matching rise to variable home loan rates from 9 October: Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, NAB and ANZ. Westpac says its rise applies to new and existing customers. Most other lenders followed with the same 0.25 percentage point increase over the next fortnight.

Which lenders have not announced a change yet?

As at 4 October 2026, Ratesniffers had not recorded a variable rate announcement from Auswide Bank, Bank of China, Credit Union SA, Heartland, Hejaz, Hume Bank, Keystart, La Trobe Financial, Queensland Country Bank, RedZed or Ubank. That is a snapshot, not a promise that their rates will hold. The live pass-through tracker on the RBA cash rate page updates as each lender confirms a change.

How much will the rate rise add to my repayments?

On a $600,000 principal and interest loan over 30 years, a 0.25 percentage point rise adds roughly $92 to $101 to the monthly repayment depending on the rate you start from, or a little over $1,100 extra a year. On a $500,000 loan it is roughly $77 to $84 a month, and on $750,000 roughly $115 to $127. These are worked examples of the arithmetic only, not an offer. Most lenders adjust the minimum repayment automatically once the new rate applies.

Is Suncorp Bank passing on the rise?

Suncorp Bank has a bigger change for new borrowers: it states it will no longer accept applications for home lending products from 7 October 2026, following ANZ's acquisition of the bank. Existing customers can keep banking with Suncorp Bank. See the Suncorp Bank home loan review for what that means.

Where can I compare rates after the rise?

The Ratesniffers variable home loan rate table ranks every tracked variable product by its true cost including standard fees, and the refinance rates page shows what switching could cost. Rates move as each lender's change takes effect, so check the effective date beside each row.
