Who is Judo Bank?
Judo Bank was founded in October 2016 by former NAB bankers David Hornery and Joseph Healy, built specifically to lend to small and medium-sized businesses after the major banks pulled back from relationship-based SME lending. It received a full banking licence from APRA in April 2019 and listed on the ASX in November 2021 (ticker JDO), the first fully licensed Australian bank to IPO in 25 years.
Judo's core business remains SME lending, backed by personal term deposits and, more recently, a home loan offering. It has no branch network, operating through relationship bankers and its digital platform from its Melbourne head office rather than shopfronts.
Who suits a Judo Bank home loan?
Judo Bank tends to suit business owners already banking with Judo for commercial lending who want to keep their home loan under the same relationship, rather than borrowers shopping purely on rate. Its home loan pricing in our index generally sits well above the mainstream market average, so compare its comparison rate carefully against the sharpest rates in the table above before choosing it for a standalone home loan.
